Effect of Calcination Temperature on Densification in Mn-Zn Ferrite
ABSTRACT
To study the effect of the degree of phase formation on densification behavior and sintered density in Mn-Zn ferrite, ferrite powders were prepared at various temperatures. The DTMA analysis of the calcined powder showed that densification proceeded by two steps. The maximum shrinkage of first step occured at constant temperature regardless of calcination temperature. Although the starting temperature of second step was constant the temperature of maximum shrinkage in the step moved to lower temperature as the calcination temperature decreased. The density of sintered specimens obtained from powders calcined at 800$^{circ}C$ and 900$^{circ}C$ were higher than the density of sintered specimens obtained from uncalcined powders and powders calcined at 1100$^{circ}C$ in N2 However the density of sintered specimen which was prepared with uncalcined powders and the powders calcined at 1100$^{circ}C$ in N2 increased to 4.95 g/cm3 which was prepared with uncalcied powders and the powders calcined at 1100$^{circ}C$ in N2 increased to 4.95 g/cm3 which was prepared with uncalcined powders and the powders calcined at 1100$^{circ}C$ in N2 increased to 4.95 g/cm3
