Effect of Organic Additive Composition on Glass Transition Temperatures and Storage Moduli of AI$_2$O$_3$ Green Tapes
ABSTRACT
Alumina tapes having various ratios of alumina to alumina+binder+plasticizer(A ratio) and binder to binder+plasticizer(B ratio) were prepared by the tape casting method. A Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analysis was employed to investigate influence of organic additive composition on glass transition tem-perature and storage moduli. The transition temperature was not changed by A ratio but increased from 8$^{circ}C$ to 4$0^{circ}C$ as B ratio increased from 0.3 to 0.7 The modulus was increased as both A and B ratios in-creased. The influence of A ratio on the modulus was most singificant at temperatures lower than the glass transition temperatures and that of B ratio was typically vivid higher than the transition temperatures. Especially the storage modulus curve was invreased abruptly at A ratio range where increasing rate of pack-ing density with increasing A ratio was changed. The inflection point of the modulus curve as a function of A ratio was shifted slightly toward higher A values as measuring temperature increased
