Emission Characteristics and Energy Transfer Mechanism in Ge-ga-S Glasses co-doped with $Tm^{3+}$ and $Ho^{3+}$
ABSTRACT
Ge25Ga5S70 glasses doped with Tm3+ or Tm3+/Ho3+ were prepared and the emission efficiencies of 2.02 ${mu}{textrm}{m}$ fluorescence were investigated. In the case of Tm3+ single doping intensity of 1.80${mu}{textrm}{m}$ (3F4longrightarrow8H4) fluorecence remained unchange. Glasses co-doped with Tm3 and H3+ showed a continuous increase in 2.02${mu}{textrm}{m}$ emission intensity with the addition of Tm3 from 0.1 to 1.0 wt% while the amount Tm3:5H4longrightarrowHo3+: 5I7 Claculation of the energy transfer rates based on the steady-state rate equations showed that the forward transfer of Tm3longrightarrowHo3+ increased greater than backward transfer with the addition of Ho3+
